Alex V...I've got to disagree with you. True Kobe doesn't have the players around him that Nash has but LA isn'y anywhere near as good as Phoenix, either. And do you think Shawn Marion would be an All-Star if he wasn't playing with Nash. Marion and Amare get so many easy baskets because of Nash's ability to create. Nash shoots a higher percentage, too. I will say Kobe is much improved this year, with regards to getting his teammates involved. And he can do things very few, if any, players can. But basketball isn't a one-on-one game; it's about five on five and Nash makes his five better than any other player in the league.

I think Steve Nash is the best player in the NBA because he is one of the best passers in the last couple decades, he can score when he wants, he makes his team better around him(38-9 with him and 1-2 without him and losing to the hawks), and his team is one of the best in the NBA.

kobe bryant is the best in the NBA pound for pound. now yes, there are players that perhaps understand the team concept a lot better than kobe around the league, or who are better than he is at passing or rebounding, but what defines the best player. i believe it's the one that nobody can stop, the one who can singlehandedly win a game... and kobe is just that. kobe can take a team and by himself win a game, i mean, for those of you who said dirk, you forget that kobe outscored the entire dallas team in three quarters. then for those of you who say steve nash, i beg you to think of where the lakers would be with steve nash, sure he's a great payer, but in order for him to be a great player, he needs great players around him, and the lakers dont have any superstars aside from kobe, everyone else is just a role player, and nash is playing with two allstars. for those that say lebron i have very little to say. yes lebron is incredible, but the question is who is the best, and right now it's kobe, but maybe in five or six years it may be lebron.

one on one is Kobe, disagree & you are officially a hater, when other players in the league, (Lebron, Gilbert) call him out as the best then I would agree.
