I want to be in the know when it comes to politics, but it seems like everyone has an agenda and everything is biased. I want to be ready for the next election period, and I want to make up my mind based on the facts and not based on how others feel. Any suggestions for books or websites? I don't plan on making this the focus of my life, but I want to know whats going on...

Politics is ALL about people' agendas and values. Look around you at the people who have political views and compare their values to yours.

Then talk to them about why they make their politicl choices.

Political discussion hasn't got a good reputation but it's good for your sould and your mind. And the occaisional question or conversation won't mean you become a Professional politician!

(I also recomnd watching Jon Stewarts Daily Show occaisionally, but only if you want to.)

Getting interested in politics shows maturity and that you care about the world you live in. Good work.

I must admit, I'm a beginner too. Or am I? I read the stories that are reported to everyone and some stories that are related. I ask questions and try to find answers. Sometimes we don't have all the facts, we then need to trust in our judgement, knowledge, and experience. A book? I would suggest reading what you are guaranteed as a citizen: The Constitution.

I would take a lot of space to explain politics, but I'll be satisfied by saying that being biased is not always a bad thing. Taking a stand on an issue, whether it be right or left, is in a sense a choosing to be biased. The most important thing is to not be a fence sitter! Choose and stand by it, that is true politics!

i understand this answer would not especially meet the words for the united kingdom because of the fact i will grant the U. S. occasion. i'm specific there's an identical counter section in the united kingdom. I ask for forgiveness for no longer understanding for specific what that's however here is going. in case you have been in the U. There are not any great reasonable leaders. think of as an economist because of the fact theories based on the super image rue the day and continuously win in the long-term. forget approximately relating to the attorneys for they focus on the small image without sort or ethics and purely a foundation for a thank you to get around issues. They stay on the exception to the guideline. you're able to base coverage on the guideline and what serves the rustic as an entire. I want you the main suitable in case you enhance into knowledgeable and keep on with the uncomplicated concepts of democracy and capitalism. i'm hoping you fail misserably in case you base your critiques on polls and what some television or internet site suggested. regrettably in the U. S. a million/2 of the Republicans and all the Democrats base their perspectives on how the opinion polls have swung on the instant. do no longer try this, be a frontrunner or be something different than a flesh presser.

Two sides that claim to oppose eachother. Red vs Blue. Oh and a middle. When it occurs to the people who are in control how much power they actually have they go a little overboard. Sometimes crazy. When a person realizes they can shape the world on a whim it becomes about agendas and how those agendas compete, reaching resolution to conflict that may or may not resemble either side of it, and then do it over and over again.

I suggest starting where I started when I finally began to learn what was REALLY going on and not what I was being told.

Watch CSPAN and PBS's The Newshour. The Newshour is on 1 hour per day Monday through Friday and will cover in that hour everything ALL the cable news channels covered on political issues. It is very neutral so you will able to form your own opinions without manipulation.

Do you only care about yourself or do you want to make a difference for the whole? In American politics that is the two sides you have to chose from.
