Why do impoverished people have children they cannot afford to feed?

Isn't it irresponsible of them to be having kids?
Look at the African nations. They have a raging AIDS epidemic, widespread poverty and starvation yet for some reason they think "Hey, let's get pregnant!"

What's even worse is: we are expected to bail them out and pick up the tab for their irresponsibility. Screw that!

No, I would NOT be doing the same I if I lived there. Heck I make $65k a year and I still don't feel financially stable enough to have kids yet!

I think that is a terrible shame that any kids ever have to go hungry and that the key to solve this problem lies in people taking responsibility. The government needs to promote a strong work ethic and cut off people who are not physically or mentally disabled from government aid. The same goes for Africa. The powerbrokers have to realize that you cannot help some people as they are unwilling to change their behavior.

While it is a shame, the government should stop sending our money to other countries as these people do not appreciate our help and will never pay us back. Our country needs to focus on helping our own before other nations. Either way, I agree with you totally!

You cannot expect married couples to become abstinent, it's unrealistic. Most of these poor families are married, it's not like over here where we have many cases of "baby Daddy" and "baby Momma." Sex and love are powerful drives within human beings, and married couples have full rights to this.

That being said, poor couples need to practice birth control. They don't always have access to it. It's so true, if they can't afford to eat, can they afford condoms or the pill?

Now, as far as THIS country (I mean the States), there's no excuse for having kids when you can't afford it. WIth so much free birth control given by clinics everywhere, why are people still having kids they can't afford? They too want sex, but they gotsta be responsible with it. GET THE PILL OR CLOSE YOUR LEGS/KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS.

I think it is very slowly changing through the intervention of organisations but you cant blame them for wanting a normal life by having children and all that.

Maybe they cannot have or do not believe in abortions. LIFE means MORE than $$$$. IT TAKES A HELL OF A LOT MORE THAN $$$$$$ TO RAISE A KID. EVERYONE relies on public assistance believe it or not, almost NO ONE could afford to be educated otherwise.

Africa's problems don't lie in its population size - look at china they have over 1 billion people and seem to be ok.
Africa is plagued with wars as well .
