it's not ebay's fault if an item isn't as advertised. the best way to know is to research the history of the seller before you bid on it. this is best done by reading their received feedback. BTW, you need an ebay account to buy anything from ebay.

Each seller has a rating that comes from feedback left by previous customers. Check that to see if there are any complaints. You can also click on completed listings ( On the left of the page but you must be signed in) and see all the items you are interested in that have already sold, who they were sold by, who bought them or if the were not purchased, and the amount the sold for.

Ask teh seller if the item is working and if theyre in great shape... if they said yes, and u get ur product and not satisfied with it... u can always return it... if they dont want to pay u back open up a dispute on ebay and they will be the one that will pay u...on the other hand the seller will probably get in trouble. just always read peoples feedback and ask the seller first if u have any questions prior to bidding. gdluck

One time I bought a game for the Xbox 360 I didn't look at the guy's feedback. When I got the game it was scratched and didn't even work. What I do now is check their feedback if it is good and they have sold a lot of things I buy it form them. If it is bad don't buy anything form them OK.

the electronics category on ebay is rife with FRAUD!

even the feedback being 100% really tells you nothing on these items.

many are listed on HIJACKED ACCOUNTS.

you have to protect yourself here!

if you buy one on ebay, PLEASE pay ONLY through PAYPAL with a CREDIT CARD!

this is your BEST protection.

in case something is wrong or you never get the item, or PAYPAL can't get your money back from a shady seller, you can call your CC company and file for a CHARGEBACK.

ALWAYS use a CREDIT CARD!

Caveat Emptor as they say. Check the feedback, and check for a return policy.

That's the beauty of E-Bay. You can't!

But, you can rate the person who sold it to you and they probably don't want a bad rating or it will be harder to sell other things on E-Bay in the future.

ASK A FRIEND WHO CONSTANTLY BUYS IF THEY USUALLY GET OKAY PRODUCTS. BUT EVEN IF YOU DO GET A FAULTY ITEM MAKE SURE YOU FILM YOURSELF OPENING IT AND GETTING IT FROM THE MAIL-PERSON.THAT TECHNIQUE SAVED MY TRIAL IN COURT!
