Why do most inter-city black people have such bad attitude?

Okay, before you totally slam me as being racist or judgmental or stereotypical... I am currently a college student attending Washington D.C., and there are alot of black people working here in Washington who don a bad attitude and treat white customers like they are worthless pieces of crap. That cold, disinterested stare, the slow movements, the "oh great, I have to help you, what a drag it is for me" vibe. Now, not ALL black people within D.C. are like that, and there ARE white people there who have bad attitudes, too, but the majority lies within... so my question is, why do most inter city (Washington DC) black people have bad attitudes towards white people? Why are they slower and more apathatic, and why are they intimidating?

AGAIN, please do NOT think I'm being racist. It's just that, it seems like nobody had the guts to ask this, so I'm asking. Thanks for your respect...and fyi, I know some very nice and awesome black people.

coz the majority of black ppl have a chip on there shoulder against white ppl...i dont care what anyone says..ITS TRUE!!stems back to slavery days..they think all white ppl are bad...BUT GUESS WHAT..IT WASNT US WHO SHIPPED YOU OUT OF AFRICA...I TOO NOTICE A BAD ATTITUDE WITH BLACK PPL ..I WORK IN A STORE..AND GET BAD MANNERS and bad attitude...though there are some who are very sweet..esp the older ones..

You obviously have been around only a certain type of Black people...hell I'm black and I can't even answer this question...I live in Mississippi and down here black people get some of the worst treatment from their own kind...in my case it's more of a class thing..you know low income versus burgeoisie class type of thing.....Based on what you say in your posting, those people you come into contact with seem like they're not too happy with their job or maybe they're preoccupied with something else that might be on their mind..like doing a crappy job for crappy pay....In my almost 44 years I get the worst treatment from younger black people and older white people...this is not true in all of my situations, but it's true of about 75% of my experiences...You haven't lived long enough, so don't be so worried about this...It could be just a cultural thing .....no two black people are alike and the same is true for everybody else regardless of race....from what I have seen of the other postings it looks like some people have a problem with black people in general, that has nothing do with how they have dealt with them on a one on one basis....don't let a few bad experiences give you the wrong imppression about a whole race of people....

Maybe their taught that white people catch all the breaks and so they grow a resentment towards them. Fight "The Man"!!!

My opinion...the inner-city isn't that pleasant a place to live and those folks can't get out...And misery loves company.

maybe the people who say that to you are judging you right off the back and maybe its reversed racism and that ain't right either..there is no need for anyone to act like that towards you..which leads me to believe those who do that are just jerks...u don't need to prove anything to anyone just follow the golden rule and they got issues don't hang round em. :) see i ain't hatin on ya!

maybe its because they judge you b4 they know you and they are still stukk in the past when whites used to disrespect the blacks and they are tryna get you bakk and show whites how it felt when blacks were treated that way!
