All my good friends are gay guys. We get along so well and have a ton in common.

I have alot of close gay male friends too. I think we get a window into the male psyche, there's not sexual tension there and we're not competing for the same thing as other straight girls. I have close women friends as well but it seems my gay male friends are more honest with me and tell me if I look fat in something or my hair looks like crap or whatever. Let's face it: us women want to be the best-looking one when we go out in public with our girlfriends and don't always tell each when we don't look so great. Plus all my gay friends have a wonderfully wicked sense of humor.

I think it is a bit of a myth that men and women can't be friends with out sexual attraction coming into it. Sometimes people prefer the opposite sex for friends as they can talk about certain things or display certain characterisitcs without feeling they are being judged. The thing that I would say with any friendship like this is expectations. Be careful that some gay men think by hanging around with straight women it somehow makes them butcher ie gives them 'one in the eye' over straight men. This can cause potential probs as the straight woman begins to misunderstand the relationship and the gay man goes down a road he really shouldn't be!
Anyway I rant too much - yes I think gay guys can make great friends for girls - just know and respect those boundaries!

Women can get along better with gay men i think because they dont have to worry about the guy trying to hit on them and vice versa, plus we can speak much more freely to them than most other friends that are straight.

If you want me as your token gay 'friend' to see if you could ever turn me straight, or if you want me as your 'pet project' to brag to your girlfriends about how 'gay tolerant' you are or you want to treat me like a fashion accessory because gay guys in the wake of "Queer As Folk" are now 'cool', then I'm afraid I wouldn't be a very good 'friend' to you.

Because a gay man can interact with women while thinking with the head that's on top of his shoulders!

because you know you are not going to be hit on when you are relaxed and being yourself. You do NOT have to keep a guard up. It is very easy for me to be around Lesbians as friends, for they are not cruising or hitting on me...I can be myself with no worries that I might be coming across as too friendly or returning the come on.
