They could go as long as 2 weeks but most doctors will induce before that. My doctor said to me once you get that far along the baby has grown and taken up so much room in your belly that he is not getting all the nutrients he/she need through the cord. Also you don't want to have to push a big baby out of there. And That is under normal circumstances.

Staying in the womb anytime after the due date can be dangerous to the baby b/c the uterine environment deteriorates. They will induce labor usually 1 or 2 weeks after the due date. I'm sure there were women somewhere that carried longer, but their babies were likely stillborn.

After more than 2 or3 weeks past its due date, theplacenta starts to deteriorate. My son was a full 6 weeks overdue and by the time he was born, his body had begun to digest its own protein, he had very little muscle tissue and absolutely no fat. His hair fell out within a few days of being born, The cartilage between his bones is thinner and he has constant joint pain along his spine. His kidneys don't work properly and he has had 5 trips to the hospital with stones and he is only 30 His stomach still cannot process fats properly. The reason he was overdue that much? we weren't sure when he should have been born. If we had waited a few more days, he would probably have been too fragile to survive birth.

It seems like forever! I was going to be induced 10 days after my due date for my oldest, but I went into labor on that day anyway. There does come a point where they need to get the baby out, but I'm not sure how far past the due date that is. And most babies come out by then anyway.

I don't know if there is an expiration on how long they can survive in the womb but most doctor's do not stress until you are a full 4 weeks or a month over due. If you've not gone into labor by then, if your doctor is kind, he/she will induce your labor or do a cesarian.

I was told a baby can stay in the womb up until 42 weeks and after that the doctor will either induce or do c-section depending on the circumstances.

i do no longer think of there are any psychological part outcomes. What i understand is in accordance with twins. Twins are seen finished-term at 37 weeks and in the event that they bypass over 38 weeks i became instructed that the incidences of stillbirths improve very much. My purely wager could be around 40 two weeks it incredibly is seen getting risky after that element yet extremely it incredibly is no longer a psychological factor in any respect they only run out of room to maintain coming up. i think of that if the infant is somewhat smaller and the mummy has extra area for the infant to proceed growing to be than it probable would not be an issue in any respect.

My boyfriend was born 4 weeks after his due date but that was in the 80s so things have probably changed since then. (He was the biggest & strongest baby the doctors had ever seen!)

Most doctors will induce at 10 days to two weeks over due date. After that, all kinds of complications can occur. I've never heard of anyone going more than two weeks over.

Due dates are not exact. It is difficult to determine (in most cases) the actual day of conception. My opinion - unless there are medical problems, the baby will come when it is time.
