It might be seasonal. A lot of people are depressed this time of year because of the lack of natural sunlight. Try to spend some time out doors this weekend.

Some underlying causes for depression :
1. Post Pregnancy / Pregnancy and fear of what the future holds
2. Menstruation cycle / harmonal factors
3. Someone close to you is in trouble
4. false Pretences eg: you pretend to love your job when in fact you hate it ; to pretend that everything is ok with your family life, but its not, you have to smile when you are unhappy....ie., going against your true feeling
5. the person you love does not need you / is not likely to return to you (kids included)
6. crying out for attention
7. sudden un-expected change in lifestyle / daily routine
8. Lack of sleep
9. Money
10. Breach of trust
11. Being alone
12. Monotony
13. Medical grounds
..........check where you fall
My other suggestion is : Time is the best healer..........so continue to ignore your depression and treat it as normal. Very soon it will stop by itself.

Obviously I have know Idea whats going on in your life. But it sounds like maybe you need to make some choices or big changes in your life. Ask yourself, are you happy with your relationships, work, school, family, is there an area you need make some changes to push forward into the next phase of your life? If not...maybe you just need to see a councilor to sort things out. You have nothing to be ashamed of, **** happens to all of us. LOL

Has something routine changed in your life lately that you feel is out of your control?
Do you feel rejected when you DO go out?
Don't worry too much, everyone has some downtimes now and then. Blame it on the winter.
Spring and flowers will be here soon !
Hang in there ! ;)

There has to be some kind of underlying cause, either something that has happened in the past or dread or anxiety over something to come.
or maybe it's your diet?

I'm not sure, I would have to know you in person.
But, I am sure that people with goals pretty much never get depressed, because they know that there is always something to work for.
