We took our baby girl on a beach walk the first day out of the hospital ... it was great! We had been stuck in the hospital for 5 days & I couldn't wait to get out. Every day after that, we went for a sunrise walk to the beach with our two dogs (we lived just a few blocks from the beach at the time). She was born in March, so still a bit of a chill in the morning air, but fine if bundled up :-)
Thanks for letting me share that memory ... our baby girl will turn 18 yrs old this March & will be off to college next year! Time flies, enjoy every day with your baby :-)
Oh yeah, if you are breast feeding, you are passing on antibodies to your baby to help her stay healthy.

Do what you feel comfortable doing. I'd suggest just a short venture the first time or two. I never knew how hard it was to be a new mom and get my shopping done with hubby at home with baby. I cried feeling bad for leaving

After the early arrival of number 2 and a 10 day stay in hospital you couldn't keep us in. We even took a couple of walks while still in hospital. After the birth of no. 3 we walked home from the hospital. Use your common scents in regard to weather conditions and enjoy the fresh air, your baby will.

Absolutely! We went out when my baby was just a week old. There's no reason to keep a baby cooped up inside all the time. Just make sure to keep the little one warm and comfortable.
The two month shots do NOT protect against cold and flu. You don't have to wait for them to go out. Just use some common sense and don't let sick people handle your baby.

I feel you should do this when you feel you are ready although it may be a scary thought at first once you've done it your confidence will increase, what about planning a small outing first maybe just a walk around or to a friends. I took my gang out on my own when my daughter was 13 days old and it was fnie, I'm sure you'll be just fine too :)

You make it sound like you haven't been out of the house in a whole month....?
Go for a walk, go grocery shopping, whatever. I agree that it would be unwise to take Baby to an amusement park or something like that, but if you dress the child appropriately you'll both be fine. If you really haven't been out yet, please do it for your own sanity as well.

Why not? Millions in the same situation do. Join the club.
Your child will only build up an immunity by being exposed to everyday life. Shielding your child will only prolong or prevent it.
Go out - enjoy it!

Absolutely...just be careful at places that are crowded with people due to cold and flu season. If it is not too cold, take your little one out for a stroll. Dress him/her appropriately and use a wind shield on your stroller. The wind can take their breath away. Getting out can be really refreshing for you and your little one. I took my baby out at 2 days for a quick stroll.
Good luck!

Both my kids were born in warmer weather, We took them out after 5 days! Not for long but after being in hosp I wanted to get out! We also went on drives because I couldn't walk far after having c sections with both. If it is cold where u are why not go for a drive with baby, or go to see his/her grandparents?
