Theoretically, no. Hiring/HR managers are supposed to be professionals that are looking for the best employees and the best interest of the company. Family status should have nothing to do with hiring decisions.

However, we are human. It is hard not to give someone a chance, even if they aren't the best candidate, when you know they are a single mom with two kids to support, or their husband won't go out and get a steady job to support them.

I'm going to say "NO." It shouldn't matter, and if it DID, they would hate to insure them all, so don't see how it would help you in ANY way?!
