Who is a good author to study for grade 12 university ebglish course. It has to be before 1950 born. Not into all those war and lotr adventure types, and witchcrafting etc , so don't send any of those.

Maybe give me a top 3 . That would be just great THanks!!!!!!!

Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged), Charles Dickens (A Tale of Two Cities), Franz Kafka (Metamorphosis), Ernest Hemingway (The Old Man and the Sea), Jane Austin (Emma), Emily Bronte (Wuthering Heights), Mark Twain (The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) and Jack London (To Build a Fire) are all authors I've throughly enjoyed.

1. Jane Austen: Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, etc.
2. Leo Tolstoy: Anna Karenina, War & Peace.
3. Thomas Henry: Tess of D'Urbervilles.

Read Don Quixote by Cervantes, The Iliad, Maybe some philosophy, Socrates, Plato, Kant, Nietzsche. Sci fi can be pretty thought provoking, Asimov is good, Heinlan is good. William S. Burroughs is interesting.

I personally like Ayn Rand. Also, Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Good literature. No fantasy.

John Steinbeck would be a good author of choice. I admire him even though i'm not American.
