Bees, Wasps, and Hornets all build nests, and are very protective of them. A hornet is actually a type of wasp. They are in the same Family (Vespidae). As you know, I'm sure, Bees can only sting once, and wasps can sting multiple times. I think that bees are a lot better.
It is a common misconception that you should scrape out a bee's stinger using a credit card. The stinger of a bee has a pump that pumps out venom at a constant rate, even if the stinger is squeezed. The longer you wait to remove the stinger, the more will have been pumped in. The best thing to do is immediately pull out the stinger. It will make the sting less painful, and the swelling will go away faster..

Bees usually have to feel threatened before they sting. Same thing for hornets. Wasps however will attack once they see someone.
