A gift is something given. You should accept it graciously and with thanks. If the reason you want to give the gift back is because you don't want to be with this guy or have him think of you in a special way then be honest and tell him.

It means either he really likes it and wishes to continue using it
or if its something sentimental
he still has little feelings over you
or it also might mean he's just trying to be a jackass
cause he knows you want it back

Throw it in the trash.
Donate it to charity.
it's a gift silly! it's not to be given back.
EVEN IF IT'S UNWANTED.
you could mail it to his address!!!
or just take the path of least resistance and donate it to goodwill.
if he asks about it, tell him you donate all unwanted gifts to charity.
if he's a stalker, report him!!
there are laws against that.
or take it to the police station and give it to them, and say he's stalking you, if he is!!!

a gift is just that, he bought it for you and you may keep it.
also sounds like he would like you to have a reminder of him around., maybe you should re-consider
