In the U.S. our employers don't have to give us vacation time. However many countries in Europe have laws that let people take paid vacations. Americans eat a lot of fast food because it's fast and easy. We're working so much we don't have time to cook a healthy meal. A lot of people work 2 or 3 jobs. That doesn't leave much time to exercise.

Because if you combine all the excess fat of all the people in america it weighs more than that of all the excess fat in china. And china has more than 3 times as many people (I just made that whole statistic up as an exaggeration, but I wouldnt be surprised if it were true). Fat = lazyness. Obesity rates are through the roof. Child obesity is on the rise and its depressing me.

Creative yes, overweight......hell yeah. All we do is eat fast food, drive everywhere, try and scrunch in some time to work out, and then off to work for 40+hrs. I'd say we're lazy because instead of taking responsibility for our own mistakes, we have to sue the siht out of someone to feel better. Or maybe instead of setting up lights on a Christmas tree, we'll get an already decorated tree w/ a remote. Thank God for modern science, huh.

We use our creativeness to hire people to work for less wages, while we get fat eating our fast food and ordering people what to do while making more. Complain about everything and continue to do so till we die.

Because put downs like that prove they are ignorant, and that they are misinformed, and they feel better putting us down. The Euro/american trash is that way as well, mostly the wealthy ones who fly around living in the lap of luxury put us down, when they go over there to appease them as well. We work harder than any other country in the world and we work as a team too. They are completely jealous of that. And they hate us for that. Try to get two Frenchman to agree? ha ha Or a German? Not unless they are drunk and then they have a brawl? ha ha The Asians are hard workers but mostly just to survive and that is their own fault they waited till now to form a decent economic system. Africa sweats yes but there again they sell their own people and kill them and so does South America and Mexico, and spain? eh?
We are the best and we need to bring that to focus and start being proud of it and stop taking their insults, especially those that are in the Arab countries, oh man those folks are hopeless!

I heard somewhere, on the radio or something (so take this as you will) that America passed Japan for working the most hours a week on average last year...

I don't know where this "lazy" stuff comes from, but I don't see it... in fact, I know a lot of people that probably work too much... they don't see their family because they work all the time... 60+ hours a week

they stress and strain is probably going to put many of them in an early grave...

maybe this is someone's solution to SS? work them to death?

or maybe this is just the rich way to get more work out of us... call us lazy so we think we need to work more to have self worth?

I'm with g! vacation time is a benefit. u can still take time off. Americans eat a lot of fast food because we are on the go going and going. so if we are on the go we are not lazy. i work 47 hrs a week and take care of my 3 kids. in Europe they work 30 hrs. a week. u can eat health on the go.

americans are percived as being lazy because we have alot of luxurys that other countries don't have....we also spend more time eating out then actually cooking at home....i work at a gas station and i have ALOT of families come in and eat day after day or parents wondering what they are going to buy from our fried foods to feed their families for dinner....we choose to put ourselves in situations where we don't have time for anything....how long does it take to sit in the drive thru window to get our food rather than throwing some burgers on the grill at home or letting some potatoes boil in water to be mashed??? we consume ourselves with work and then nothing else gets done or we can't take care of ourselves....we get done with work and we just wanna sit down at home in front of the television and do absolutely nothing rather than fixing that leaky faucet upstairs or finish doing the dishes....where does working that much get you in life??? are you really that much happier with your life by not being able to do anything else not just because there isn't enough time in the day but because your too tired to even think about doing something after work??? i think when they say americans are lazy they are looking at the number of obese people...the numbers for obese children is sky rocketing and its sad and pittful that we have because so "lazy" that parents aren't teaching their children good eating habits...if you are working 2-3 jobs you need to think about getting a better paying job if they are paying you crap wadges then that job is probably intended for a high school student because they don't have as many bills....

Many people (in Asia) think that black Americans are lazy, hispanic Americans are sneaky, asian Americans are enterprising and white Americans are rich and clever. How's that for generalization.

Other Asian generalization which are relevant to white Americans (ancestry):

We also recognised that Germans and Swiss are the best examples of industriousness, efficiency, and intelligence.

English are lazy but also brilliant.

French and Italians are indiscipline.
