well, you need 5 x 2 to get the zero the end,
that leaves 5544 which divides by 8 to give 693
which divides by 3 to give 231
which divides by 7 to give 33
which divides by 3 to give 11
which is prime, therefore, you can't do it in single digit numbers.
5 x 2 x 8 x 3 x 7 x 3 x 11 = 55440
or 5 x 2 x 8 x 9 x 7 x 11 = 55440

just divide the number by each digit to see if it is divisible

55440/2 = 27720 , thus 2 * 27720 = 55440, so 2 is ok.

repeat this for the other 8 digits including the trivial one `1

55440 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 3 * 5 * 7 * 11.

I assume you can pick out the single digit factors there. ;-)
