Yes, a Star Trek where they are not exploring space, but exploring time. Taking the Enterprise back to different points in time, but they can't interfere sort of like the "Prime Directive" of time travel.

It needs to be set after Voyager and evolve the existing "evil" races and groups such as the Borg, Dominion, etc. Going back and doing the prequel things are great for us fans who have been with it all the way along, but new comers cannot appreciate alot of the things that take place. I mean did someone who never saw another series really understand the whole transporter fear and problems that were on Enterprise? Star Trek needs to build a new fan based from newer generations and give us long time fans some things on the side instead of trying to cater to us. After all, it would be really cool to see things advance.
I can remember as a young boy watching the original series in reruns late at night at my Grandmother's house and I became hooked on Sci-fi because of it. When the rebirth of the TV franchise came with TNG, there was still a strong following with the movies of the original cast. Everything was just set right with those raised on the original series being nostalgic, popular movies, no real competition as far as sci-fi series on at the time; all those things contributed to the rebirth of Star Trek.
At this point, I don't think the conditions are very right for a resurge in popularity like it was then. too many other sci-fi shows (sci-fi network) and the bad ratings that Enterprise got along with the results of the last couple of movies. I don't think that there are fans that were raised on TNG that long to go back as much as there was on the original series. I think it will be awhile before there is a strong Star Trek following. I may be strange, but I have never seen an episode or a movie that I didn't like. I mean some are better than others, but I have liked it all from Original, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise and all the movies. But I think Star Trek is very weak with following at this point. If Roddenberry was still alive, I think there could be a renewed interest the way Lucas came back and renewed the popularity of Star Wars.
All in all, I hope this new movie does well and gives a new generation the hope to live long and prosper.

There should be another Star Trek series only, and I mean ONLY, if it is based on a really good concept and is well written. I really hate some of these bad knock offs that are really doing nothing but riding on the coat tails of the original and the good spin offs.
As for the time period. I prefer the time either just before, during or after the original series. It seemed to be a time of discovery and growth. That's what I prefer.

They should do STAR TREK-TIME WARS set 800 years after
star trek-voyager.Then they can choose a different time period every week and it would not get as boring as STAR TREK-Enterprise did.

They should wait a few years, let the mistake of Enterprise calm down, and set it shortly after Voyager.
The Voyager picked up so much information in the Deltra Quadrant that it would be foolish not to expand on that.
And The Borg will be more evil than ever.
