Mines was number 2 followed by the original. 3 was just too ridicoulous with the overuse of comedy & 4 i never saw the entire movie to judge it. I have yet seen the newer version so i'll hold judgement.

The first one because that was the first movie that my mother( who is deceased) and I seen together in a movie theater. Also, I remember being in awe that the movie so perfectly depicted the Superman that I used to read in my comic books, the storyline was great, and Christopher Reeves,was drop dead gorgeous! The whole cast for the movie was just perfect and oh yeah, I almost forgot, I was amazed how much Jackie Cooper from the Little Rascals grew up to be Clark Kent's boss! :-)

Agreed. Superman 2 was the best, then the first movie. 3 definitely had way too much comedy... intro'ing Lana Lang would have been interesting in a more serious movie. The 4th movie was just a bad plot.
I finally did get around to seeing Supes Returns when it came out on dvd. I liked a lot of the little things that harkened back to the original movie series... the style of the opening and closing credits, the Superman fly-by of the earth at the end (he didn't smile at the camera like Reeve did, but that might be not wanting to "take that away" from Reeve)... but I thought the movie was a bit uneven. Some good parts, some bad parts, some boring parts. I think Singer (like with X Men) can make decent superhero movies, but he hasn't shown me he can make a great one yet.
I'd put Superman Returns in the 3rd slot, but that's a gimmie considering how Supes 3 and 4 were.
