Do you think you will be able to avoid becoming an homosexual? (This is like the opposite of kens question about being left on an island with the opposite sex and still becoming homosexual. )

If you're not homosexual, I doubt that you would BECOME a homosexual ... but you would do what you needed to satisfy your needs. Does this change who you are inherently? No, it doesn't. When you escaped from the island, you'd probably go back to life the way that it was before. But I think that most of us would not turn down an opportunity for sex, even if it was with an unlikely partner, if that was going to be our only option for a while.

If I was left on an island of someone of the same sex they damm well better be good looking or we are going to both be MONO-sexual. LOL!
What I mean is, being with the same sex wont MAKE you gay, OR the other way around.
What if there were no people at all, what would I become?
A-sexual? :)

Well... is you ever watch Survivor, the people are stranded on an island for over a month. During that time they get all smelly and dirty and hairy (meaning that they don't shave). So I'd say that I would have to become a homo and be attracted to them within the first 2 days, because after that I don't think that I would be able to stand their smelliness...

90% of the male population is capable of having sex with the same sex. Ask any ex-state or fed prisoner. That does not mean that they will prefer men when they have women available...it just means it is better to get off with a man than not getting off. I see no difference in the outcome. Homosexual are not made, they are born. Being a heterosexual does NOT mean you have never had sex with the same sex...it just means that is your sexual preference.

I might be able to avoid it. However, this question does suggest that if you're stuck with someone for a long time you'll become attractive to them. I have a feeling that such an event is rarely truth.

Yes I would avoid becoming a homosexual. I prefer doing myself to having sex with another girl. But that would depend on the person I suppose. I understand there is an unusual high number of homosexuals in prisons. But then they are unsavory characters anyway.

how about if we just didn't have sex with the other person, no matter what gender they are. i think we've all been conditioned to assume that sex is an important part of our lives. why do we care if we were on an abandoned island with someone; we would have moral issues about screwing them. why is it a big deal?

no dis-respect; it's just a question.

Most gays are born gay, but there are lots who become gay when a chance meeting brings two souls together who happen to be of the same sex. It happens.
I'm a lesbian, so I hope if I'm ever on that island, I'm with my wife!

Interesting. I'm 38 and have never been attracted to a woman. If I picture being with a woman it does nothing for me. But who's to say? Maybe I might fall in love with and be attracted to the chick. If I did I would go for it.

I say it would depend on how long you were there, for example in prison people become gay because they go soooo long without sex they do eachother...but if they are only in prison for a day or 5 then they wont become gay.
