After 6 months chewing now his tongue became so ugly, I just worry why is doing this?
Is it a mental problem or physical need or something else?
He is doing this especially night time while he is sleep.
Thank you.

My sister has always chewed on her tongue. She is now 30 with a 2 1/2 & a 4 1/2 year old boys. We've noticed that her oldest started chewing on his tongue about a year ago. Not sure what it means but my sister says she doesn't even know that she's doing it until someone mentions it. Does your baby know he's chewing on his tongue?

This is usually associated with a lack of oxygen. Espicially at night because breathing is even more shallow constituting an even greater lack of oxygen. It may be small now, but a continuous lack of oxygen can cause serious problems. You should take him for a check-up, and make sure to tell your doctor about this.
