No pet is really easy to care for. They all have special needs - it might be environment, training, feeding or some other issue. Do you really want a pet if you're looking for one that you don't have to interact with? Taking on the life of a living creature is a great responsibility. You have to factor in the time you have to spend on/with the pet, the amount of care it needs, the cost of veterinary care for the pet and the laws where you live (if you are looking at "exotic" pets).

If you are really set on having a pet; talk to a local veterinarian and go over the above information with him. Let him help you find the right pet.

Short haired cat. Long hairs need grooming to prevent hairballs. All the short hair needs is vaccination, food, water and fresh litter. You can even leave them at home for a weekend if you get a feeder and water-er.
Fish really need to be feed daily and I've never heard of a fish feeder that you could stock for a couple of days. Then you do have to clean the bowl (or tank if its a big fish or several of them).
Dogs are needier than cats. They need companionship. They need their 'pack' and that is usually you, their owner.
Most other house pets also need daily care witch means you have to find someone to care for them if you go off for a weekend.
Of course if you go off for more than a couple of days you'll still need to get someone to come check on the cat. Or board it with someone.

the easiest pet to care for that i have had is my dog. give him a bath once and a while. feed him and water him, make sure he has toys. I was gonna say my cat but i hate changing the litter box, and fish are too much work with cleaning their bowls/aquariums.

Cats. They are very independent. Just food/water and a cat box. Once a year shots. Pet them every once in a while. A leave them alone. Some people say fish, I tried it, it's not.

my snake is pretty easy. I feed him once a week and then he pretty much just hides in his rock. Or wherever else he finds around the house thats warm.. I don't even keep him in a cage. he doesn't stink or get hair all over everything. he doesn't go to the bathroom very often and he goes to a certain spot when he does and it's not all nasty to clean up. they don't attack anything but mouses and they are just all around sick pets to have. I love my snake and he loves me.

I think a simple feeder fish is the easiest to care for. They don't need a lot of room, they just need clean water, food, and some shelter.

You don't have to play with them, walk them, train them, take them to the vet, or buy them expensive things.

Outdoor cats.
Just put some food outside in the morning and night, and give them their shots. They don't mess up the house, and will come around when you go outside and like to be petted now and then.

you're able to get a rabbit, a hamster, a guinea pig, a parakeet, a lizard, a gecko, or a snake. Rabbits can study tricks, and are extremely uncomplicated to guard. they are many diverse types, and once you're allergic, you're able to continuously get a bald puppy like some form of reptile.
