This is a very unrealistic scenario. The problems we face in Iraq are due in part to the unpopularity of our military actions. I seriously doubt that wiping an entire country off of the face of the earth and radiating other countries with the fallout from the blast would help our position in the world.

So all the innocent people, mothers, children that live their for no fault of their own, deserve to be blown off the face of the earth?.. Did God just create them for the Americans to bomb? What sort of mercy is that?.. Why dont you invite an American Iraqi into your home for dinner and talk to them.. You'll find everyone all over the earth has the same emotions.. they are people like you, they just want to get to work, make money to feed and clothe their family.. Send their kids off to school safely. They didnt ask for this... Geez! have a heart..

That would piss off Russia and China (as well as everyone else). But, we are going to end up fighting these two countries in the future anyways. So, why not bring this battle to us faster? You can take it slow. Or you can speed it up. None of us are going to get the fast tract to peace anytime soon.
So I think it is gold. Why not just really F things up. We are the United States after all. (sarcasm played heavy.)

First of all...the biggist nuclear weapon ever made was a 52 mega-ton nuclear bomb in 1962 by the russian thats enough to destroy the state of colorado 15 kilton=4 mile sqaure blast radius if we dropped one that was that big it would destroy a 3rd of the middle east. and last but not least why they hell would you wwant to kill that many people and start world war three?

A very bad idea. If the U.S.'s image isn't bad now, using a nuclear device would guarantee that we would look like out-of-control bullies. We may be the only superpower, but I think that a move like that would result in most of the world banding together to put a stop to us.

why, the biggest tactical nuclear weapon we have would destroy a city and the surrounding area, not the whole country. We could bomb every city sure, but with that much radioactive material floating around we'd feel fallout effects all the way over here.
edit: that russian bomb the guy above me is talking about is a 60km wide blast range, not the entire state of colorado.

OK first that would be a completely stupid idea. there is a lot of oil over there that we can use.
second i would love to see us take them over and take the oil from them. now we can boom them but we have to be carefully about that oil.
