Hi there dear. Well, there are a couple of things that might be causing this. Weight loss is imperative, though I'm sure you've already heard that a thousand times, so I'll try to be more constructive, not to downplay it's importance. I would suggest that you stay away from refined sugar, all fast food and quick fix meals, (hamburger helper, tuna helper, etc) These foods contain a lot of sugar which translates to thinner blood.
Thin blood doesn't clot very well, which in turn causes the uterine wall to not heal after passing the lining during your period. Most women, when going through menopause, experience what you are experiencing. You should see an Endocrinologist to determine if your hormones are out of balance, but in the short run, you can follow the low sugar diet and see if this doesn't alleviate the problem that you're experiencing.

The fact that you're overweight makes me think it's possible you may have something like PCOS. That can screw up your periods a lot.
Hispanic women generally bleed more than others the first few times they have sex (don't know why it is - thick hymens maybe? I don't know, but I'm not making it up to be racist - it's a medical fact). I don't know if this applies to you or not.
Either way, something isn't right so go see your doctor. You should have a long time ago.

Go see a gynecologist, yesterday.
Ask about doing an ultrasound, a d&c, or an endometrial biopsy.
Bleeding like that is not normal.. more than likely it is due to out of whack hormones, but you need to rule out something more serious.
Not trying to freak you out or anything, but I have a similar history (overweight, irregular periods, strange bleeding) and was just diagnosed with endometrial cancer, and am having a hysterectomy in three days to hopefully cure it. I'm sure that's not your problem, I'm older than you are (34), but irregular periods and obesity are both strong risk factors for this.
Anyway, get thee to a gyn!

Bleeding after sex is not normal. It can indicate any number of problems. some of which are far, far more serious than are others. This can includes problems that can cost you your life. IF this is still going on, call for an ambulance now and be taken to a hospital for immediate attention.
You also have problems with irregular periods. You need to see your family doctor to start investigating this. If this is beyond what your GP can do for you (give him/her a chance) then you will be referred to a gynecologist.
Your weight is probably totally irrelevant to your problems but it;s not irrelevant to your life. Provided that you have no other problems (which I doubt, from your description), ask your doctor for help with weight control, IF YOUR DOCTOR SAYS THAT YOU ARE INDEED OVERWEIGHT. This can also be nothing more than a problem of your perception of your body.

I think you should definitely go to your GP and get them to put you on the pill (you didn't say whether or not you're on the pill) or if you're already on one, ask them to switch you to another. I'm sure they'll be happy to try & solve your period problem.... going on the pill should stop all the abnormal bleeding.... chat to them, tell them what's been going on and they will find the best solution for you.
