Yah, I live in Maryland and it's cold right now, but a few weeks ago the big black ants started creeping out from somewhere in the basement of my house. We live on all levels of the house and don't have junk inside or out so I don't know what's going on with them. A few visit every year in the spring, but got an early start this year. When we get our first warm spell, the little tiny red ants will appear in the kitchen. I did put some ant traps down in the basement area, but the darn dogs get into them if I put them all over the house.

No, but I had them in my a/c unit outside and the repair man used tide granule soap, no more ants.

No, not during the winter. We'd sometimes get visitors but we started spraying something around the foundation and they've stopped intruding.

I do have ants in my upstairs apartment........I think it's due to the rain we've been having lately.

Yes they come over and visit from time to time. They like it here. Do they stay here? No. They just come for a minute and then leave.
