First off, as long as LeBron is playing for the Cavaliers there isn't much hope at achieving half of what Jordan did in his tenure.

With that being said, I don't think there'll be another Michael Jordan anytime soon. The guy has 6 World Championships, was named NBA Finals MVP 6 times, and shares a record with Wilt Chamberlain for most consecutive seasons leading the league in scoring (7). This is from a guy who was 6'6" and about 198 pounds on a good day. And he actually played in a league that still valued playing defense. LeBron on the other hand averages around 26 points a game (Jordan in his heyday averaged close to 34 points while playing with the likes of Scottie Pippen and Co.) with some rather sub-par players on the court with him. LeBron isn't even an honorable mention as far as records go (matter of fact there's only two guys from "today's" NBA that you even see and that's Iverson and Bryant). And Jordan was insanely successful as soon as he came into the NBA.

Frankly, there's no comparison. MJ is it.

Both M. Jordan and L. James are great players. And Jordan probably will considered "The Best Player in NBA History". However L. James is probably the best young player the NBA has ever seen. It all basically depends on how L. James' career turns out to be. But still M. Jordan will be the ultimate #23. And L. Jame's wears #23 for the Cleveland Cavs because of M. Jordan.

Right now, Michael Jordan is definitely much better than LeBron James, but Lebron's only like 21. He's got a lot of years to improve. I think he's the best player in the NBA right now and could challenge Jordan as the all-time best before it's all said and done...

I find that people tend to favor the players that they saw play when they were younger. For example: people around age 50s and 60s will probably favor guys like Bill Russel, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving. People around age 30s-40s would probably favor players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird. Naturally kids growing up nowdays watching the NBA would probably favor Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade.

So my answer is if you ask people now a high percentage will say Jordan. If you ask the same people 20 years from now the answer might very well be Lebron.

Jordan. Until Lebron wins six rings there's no argument at all. Lebron is like Scotty Pippen. Can't take the big shots and until he can he's not even the best player in the league right now, let alone in the same league as Jordan.

Lebron has the talent, but not the work ethic. He's always coasting. So the answer depends on whether something can spark Lebron.
