Step a million purchase an audio jack pigtail at an digital shop and utility mandatory for the conversion technique, alongside with Audacity. Step 2 adjust the kit and quantity controls via first determining in the journey that your computing gadget has an in jack and not purely a microphone jack (which would be solid if it does, via fact a microphone jack will presented greater amplification than needed). seem for the output jack on your tape recorder. while you're utilising a stand on my own cassette recorder, basically plug the pigtail jack into the headphone jack. adjust the quantity to easily under optimum point on the two the enter and output instruments. Step 3 Playback the audio cassette tape mutually as recording via Audacity. in case you do this, you may hear to the enter mutually as recording, in case you place the utility in loopback mode. Step 4 Use Audacity to edit ineffective area, clicks from the tape recorder and the different distractions as quickly as you're carried out recording.

Put simply, you will need to connect your cassette player to your PC soundcard, then play the cassette whilst recording on your PC. A step-by-step guide is available at:
http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/diy
The recording software is the key, there are some free software downloads available at:

I have used ‘Magix Audio Cleaning Lab’ and ‘Audacity’ – Audacity is particularly popular since it is free!
If you record to WAV format, expect file sizes of around 10MB per minute, or 1MB per minute for MP3 (at 128kbps).
Once you have your digital versions of the recording on your PC, simply burn them on to a CD (Nero burning software or similar..) or save as MP3 (you will need the 'lame.dll' file to convert to MP3 in Audacity. If you use Magix Audio Cleaning, the software will burn an audio CD for you without needing additional software (assuming you have a CD writing drive of course!)
You can also download a free PDF version of the step-by–step guide from the download page mentioned above, the guide is complete with diagrams and screen-shots
Hope this helps

I have an idea, which might be crude but it works always....
.Buy a wire that has a headphone jack on both the ends
.Connect one end of the wire to the headphone socket of your tape recorder
.Connect the other end to the Mic Socket of your Comp. (Usually it is next to your speaker socket)
.Play the cassette and at the same time, record it using wave recorder or sound recording software that you can get (many of them are free on the net)
.If recording is not successful, double click on the speaker icon to get the volume control. Goto file>properties and select recording
and then tick the Mic option to select the mic as the recording source...
To convert wav to aac, you can use iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes

You have to be able to get the sound into your computer where it can be sampled. This process will take at least as long as it takes to listen to each song. You're better off paying a small fee for one of those napster type music services and downloading your songs that started in digital format and ended the same.
