In Europe, India, Japan, etc. people have much better mobile phones. I was looking at european websites, they already have much better mobile phones available to consumers than in US. Its the same companies... nokia, samsung, motorola, etc. how come their new product launch in US is so much delayed?!

A large problem that has plagued the US is also availability of spectrum. Because we have such strict rules and regulations by the FCC, alot of the companies like T-Mobile, suffer from a lack of adequate spectrum to support network growth. Alot of this is changing as the FCC auctioned off a whole slew of 3G spectrum which T-Mobile and others bought up, but in other countries, there is either A) Less congestion and the same amount of spectrum to go around, therefore can support more growth B) in many cases there is less land area to cover, i.e. japan, uk, germany, so the cost to roll out new products is cheaper, as there are fewer cell sites to upgrade C) Many US companies have users locked into contracts, and do not have as much incentive to stay bleeding edge, because they have a certain amount of guaranteed users, where in japan and the uk and other places prepaid mobile phone plans are the majority, and companies must stay bleeding edge, or else risk immediate loss of customers.

Even if you were up to date with cell phone technology there are so many phones out on the market that you wouldn't know what to pick at all. My suggestion to you would be to go into a phone store and just pick up the phones and try them out. Ask questions about the different types of phones you like and them go home and look up some reviews on your computer (especially cnet reviews; they happen to be very good) and maybe look at some videos on YouTube of how they work (unboxing videos). It took me a while to decide on an iPhone last year but I wanted a phone that I'd be happy with and that was user friendly. Hope it helps and good luck with whatever phone you decide to get.

My best guess (and believe me this is a guess) is because of the location of the HQ and Factories, i have my doubts that any of the companies that you have listed were founded anywhere near the states, and even if they were founded here, where do ya think they are gonna manufacture them? "Made in Japan" "Made in China" it is far cheaper to manufacture them in Asia, lower min. wage, means cheaper production and more profit.

in those countries the infrastructure was not there. so they set up new.
