I have been invited to a dinner and formal yet stylish is the theme. What is best for me?

I always followed the lastest trends in wearing suits. I was considering wearing black striped suit with black shirt and purple colored necktie.
Any other suggestions..??

I would go with a black tie with the striped suit, or a solid black suit with the purple tie. You could also do a purple shirt and black tie with the solid suit. I don't like the idea of mixing a striped suit with a bright/less formal color tie. Might be a little much.
