Just keep doing them. Set a goal to, for example, make it to 20. After you have done that, up your goal to 25, and so on. You will find that you improve after doing a lot of them and building up your strength and stamina.

I started doing push ups this year in an attempt to beat another year that I did this. I started in January by doing 10 push ups a day. In February, I increased to 20 push ups a day. In March, I will increase to 30 a day and add 10 per month until the end of the year. I only made it to October one year and I was doing 100 push ups a day at one time. Good way to build up your strength.

Practice makes perfect. Keep doing them everyday. Count how many you can do today. 25 days from now, count how many you can do then. You'll notice that it will naturally become easier for you. One thing I used to do is card push ups. Get a deck of cards out. Keep drawing one by one. Do the number shown on the card. Make a time limit of 25 minutes or so to do them. Week by week, decrease the minutes and that should help you.

This may sound stupid to you and totally not manly, but my friend is in the army and the way he built up his push up ability is he just held himself in the push up position for three minutes while keeping most of the weight concentrated on his arms. If you can hold yourself for three minutes, you have the strength to do at least thirty.

As the others have said it will only be through practice. Do one more every day or every other day. This will get you doing at least 15 more a month if you do them every day. Same concept with crunches or sit-ups.
Good luck!
