The world will end one day, but how?

Question

How do you life on earth as we know it will end?

- A meteor wipes out life above bacteria?
- Global warming forces everyone to the mountains, which soon become over populated and leads to eventual canabalism?
- We blow eachother up with nuclear weapons?
- God comes to take his chosen people back with him and we all slaughter eachother arguing over who He's refering to?
- The earth's core cools freezing all life, but then thaws as the earth crashes into the sun?
- Insects get tired of being abused and unite to take over the world?
- The new mars colony is so popular that everyone moves there and the collective conscience forgets we were ever here?
- In the year 32876, another attempt to broker peace between Isreal and Palestine fails and cause another significant blow to the war on terrorism. The deadly ratio of 4:1 suicide bomber to civilian ration proves catastrophic for mankind.
- Advanced robots protest work conditions and the helpless humans die from ineptitude

It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolpse.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

The world has come to an end for David Koresh and the Dividians.
The world has also come to an end for the Heavens Gate Cult.

It does end for all the collective nuts gathered together in some doomsday cult.

Who really knows how you or I will die?
Perhaps in one of those events you mention, but the world will never come to an end.

If you look at it in a religious way, the Bible at one point says that God will never destroy the world again as he did in the book of Noah.

In my personal opinion, I believe that a nuclear war will end it all.
