When I try to watch a dvd on my computer, It goes very slow and acts like it's skipping. When I try it on a regular dvd player, it is fine so it's not that the disk is bad. It has to be my computer. Do I need more RAM or is it something else?

Run the Belarc Advisor (available free on the Belarc website) which will tell you exactly what you have inside your computer, including RAM and how much you have. It will also tell you if you have any spare RAM slots.
There are a couple of different types of RAM and they're not interchangeable, so make sure you get the right one - they look physically different, so you shouldn't have a problem if you take out the existing RAM you have and bring it along to a computer shop for comparison.
Reason you're best taking out the existing RAM is that RAM is a funny beast that usually works better if there's just one big RAM card, rather than two or three smaller ones working together. You may need to upgrade to a larger capacity RAM card.
Extra RAM is always good anyway, but it may simply be that your hard drive is too full and that's causing the DVD playback problems. Check how much free space you have on your hard drive and make some room by deleting files and programs you no longer require. This is the cheaper option, and might be all you need.

If you are running win xp,then you should have no less then 512mb ram.If the movie is playing then software would not not be my guess.Try deleting all your temp files and cookies in Internet properties and restart your computer. If you even notice a slight difference in your playback then memory it is.

I'd say ram...if you have an old computer why not buy a new one?

if you can't...just add some memory.
