i must agrre with zyfert, the symptoms youare describing are classic of spyware infection
there is no logical reason for a computer to continue to get slower and slower each day,and as i have had a very similar problem a few years ago i am allmost sure this is whats wrong with your p.c
first job is to get a good(free or not) anti-spyware program to scan for spyware,a very good program that i use is spybot(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html),this will get rid of any spyware that is lurking on your p.c,and also it will defend from future attack by using the imunization feature
also your p.c could also do with a spring clean,i use a excellent program called advanced windowscare personal (http://www.iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCarePersonal/index.html),this will do a one-click scan and get rid of spyware, registry errors, temp files, and much more all with just one click, its very similar to ccleaner but more stable
also if you have any spare money for a upgrade ,a memory upgrade will be a good bet,i allways advise people to upgrade their ram as its one of the cheapest to do but the difference to your p.c,s speed is amazing
i hope this helps
good luck

do a system restore. Go to Start, Help and support, Under pick a task pick undo changes to your computer with a system restore. Pick a date prior to your pc slowing down. After the pc is restored to a date prior to it slowing if I were you I would get a messenger called Trillian its free and seems to be better than most other messenger programs that are laden with junk. Hope thats it you need to give more details such as your operating system I`m assuming you are on windows.

Do you have a good anti-spyware program, cause this is a classic symptom. CounterSpy v.2 has just been released. This is arguably the most powerful anti-spyware program available. It runs rings around any freeware you care to mention as well as most paid programs. It costs very little ($19.95) but the best thing is that you can try it for free for 15 days. So, if you want or get rid of spyware, adware, malware, trojans and keyloggers, try CounterSpy, you won't be disappointed.

Click the start button, go to run, type in msconfig. Go to the startup tab, and uncheck any programs you do not need running. If you are not sure what they are used for, put the name in the google search engine, and it will tell you what it is used for. Do not delete any of your secutity programs. Then go to start programs, accessories, system tools, and run the disk defragmenter, that could take awhile. When finished, go back and run disk cleanup. Doing this will speed up your computer..Good Luck..
