It means the "material" that holds the friendship together, be it things in common, curiosity, co-dependancy, whatever...

The stuff that holds everything together in a relationship. It is all figurative. There is no real "fabric" that holds things together. Friendship itself is not physical, so characteristics like just being nice are in the fabric of friendship.

It's like the bonding of the different threads. It's like a friendship quilt. The way different friends make different patterns, and some just seem to work better with others.
The fabric of friendship basically just means the bonds and foundations of friendship.

Fabric is a whole bunch of threads woven together. So the fabric of friendship is all the things about people that blended together, make up their friendship.

it just means what a friendship is built on, for example, friendship is built on love, compassion, understanding and reliability...you'd say that those things are the fabric of friendship
