Thats a good question. Im a girl and i play hockey. I play on a co-ed team where there is only 3 girls, i play on my high school team where i am the only girl and i play on an all girls team. I love checking and I dont see why we can check in our girls games, I think it would make it a whole lot better if we could check and i think they should change the rules.

When international Women's hockey started there WAS body checking. They quickly changed the rules after the first Women's World Hockey Championship in 1990. There is a huge gap between Canada/US and the rest of the world. Canada just ran over and other teams. Even the Swedish and Finish teams lack the size and strength. No contact doesn't help that much, 9 world championships and Canada is 8 gold and 1 silver while the US is 1 gold and 8 silver. But it is something there to try increase world wide popularity of the sport.

first of all i'm a lady participant and our hockey isn't a funny tale. Secondly. That no body verify rule for woman's hockey is an exceptionally old international ice hockey federation rule. many human beings gamers have petitioned the IIHF to allow checking for years. yet not something has replaced. they are very sluggish to regulate any rule. there is quite some body contact and some kinds of checking does ensue. although the ladies human beings gamers do prefer to ascertain. in the present day our league is not any diverse then maximum beer leagues accessible. they are in basic terms about continuously no verify as well. In time the ladies human beings's pastime will enable it. only a count of even as the gamers will be heard that's not truthful in any respect. the ladies do play difficult. As I play both women human beings's and co ed . the ladies can play slightly dirtier then the lads .

Because of sexist ideologies that permeate the methods of thinking in North America. Consider these points:
In women's lacrosse, there is no body checking either. Also, you are not to get your crosse up high so that you don't accidentally hit somebody in the head.
Girls must wear complete face masks when batting in softball. Why? Boys do not have to completely cover their faces, yet the ball moves faster and has the ability to cause more damage.
"Girls basketball" was played in Iowa until 1996, when they finally decided to do away with the rule preventing offensive and defensive players from crossing the center-court line. They finally allowed, in 1996, to allow girls to play the real sport of basketball.
The women's baseball league that developed during WW2 required the girls to be chaperoned at all times and to wear skirts when playing. Of course, the pretty much were playing softball, not baseball, in the beginning, and the game slowly morphed into a game looking very close to baseball after 6 seasons.

Listen to me, I play hockey on a girls' team, so I kinda know what's going on. For starters, a majority of girl teams in the United States have girls who have just started learning the game; do you really think that it's a good idea to have a beginner coming in and getting killed by more experienced players? And besides, girls can (or should be) allowed to play on co-ed teams where checking is legal if the girls are good enough. And contrary to the popular belief on how girls wouldn't be able to handle being slammed into the boards...I suggest you think about the kids who are beginning to check in games and are only four and a half feet. And lastly, we all should know that hockey is a physically demanding sport, but it also requires you to think. If a defense men is coming at you what do you want to do? Fake him out or pass it to your team mate?
Thanks for listening,

Because of sexism, duh.
Women's hockey is boring. I don't play it (very often) and I don't watch it.
