I'm thinking the fictional "tree of knowledge" was an apple tree. That's what I was taught in sunday school.

You go from one statement to something not related Knowledge is not disapproved by God--your crude and somewhat rude interpretation cannot be backed Hermeneutically. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is one tree. You are basing all knowledge on that tree. I hope you do not deal with logic. Knowledge is not sin--the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was sin for Adam and Eve. Never been and don't plan to go to the "creation museum" What does that have to do with anything you are discussing?

No your gross (jk). Figs are delicious. History does not record the fruit of the tree. Some think is was an apple. Apples arent that good till they are baked in to a pie. Yummmm.

There is a tree in the middle east that is said to be the tree and the people there don't have much to do with it.

No. I think it was a myth. The tree was an apple tree in the story, however. The word "adam" means "mankind" in Hebrew - you can figure out the rest.

I think it was a banana tree; that's why it didn't take the serpent long to talk her into "eating" it.
