Modern India was really the invention of the British Colonial Adminstration of the region the consists of India, Bangaldesh and Pakistan.

The use of nationalist propaganda in ww1 gave rise to an indian nationalist movement (it did exist prior to ww1 but was low key). Essentially the movement was based on the expulsion of the Bristish. India has never been a unified nation like it is today.

The Indus Valley civilization - referred to as the oldest civ in the world was located in the Kashmir area. There were several principalities through the subcontinent.

The concept of India is a very vague concept and really we cannot say that "India" exists today. The Punjab region often applies pressure to the Indian government to allow the Punjab region to became a nation in its own right. Like many nations/countries India is a concept used to encourage a large number of people to strive to achieve a certain goal.

So we invented it?
British colonialist, French colonialist, Dutch colonialist and the "indian people" themselves.

The name India /'ɪndiə/ is derived from Indus, which is derived from the Old Persian word Hindu, from Sanskrit Sindhu, the historic local appellation for the Indus River.[2] The Constitution of India and common usage in Hindi also recognise Bharat (/bʰɑːrət̪/ (help·info)) as an official name of equal status. A third name, هندوستان, Hindustan (/hin̪d̪ust̪ɑːn/ (info)) (Persian: Land of the Hindus), has been in use since the 12th century, though its contemporary use is unevenly applied.

My understanding is that Indian civilization is more than 6 000 years old. It has been formed by migrations from a group known as Indo-Europeans, who spoke Sanskrit and conquered the more peaceful, but more sedentary people of the Hindus valley. Centuries of expansion followed. The mix of these two cultures eventually became known as India.

India is one of the oldest country in world... We all know "Hinduism" oldest religion in the world..

Itz not USA to find or invent it...

India is not invented by anyone... There were kings before 2000,3000 years itself

eg: South india was ruled by Chera,Chola and pandiyas before 2500[500 bc] years itself and there are many more old kingdoms than that.

But india was invaded by other countries..like england, portugese, french,Muslim rulers like mughals - babar, humayun, akbar, jahangir, shah jahan[who built taj mahal - world wonder for his wife mumtaz], aurangazeeb,..etc.

India have not invaded any country for past 10000 years of history.

If you mean modern India, in an important sense it was the British. They were the first power to rule the entire subcontinent. What is more, it was largely British ideals that inspired Indians to stand up against their British masters and demand independence.
