Jordan Staal is the better player now and in the future because he can score, play defense (which is a rare commodity in an offensive player), and a long reach of his stick which can score him more goals in his career than his brother. Jordan will also lead his team with Crosby and Malkin to more Stanley Cups in his career than Eric. One other commodity Jordan has is that he can play the wing effectively.

Jordan Staal is the better player. Eric Staal is a great hockey player but Jordan has as many goals as his brother does plus he is leading the league in short handed goals. Jordan can be used for short handed, power play and even strength situation whereas Eric is only used for power play and even strength. His defensive skill makes Jordan the better answer to this question. Although Eric is a great player for Carolina. Oh Carolina fans your team is in 8th with tampa bay's win over the devils. Go Pens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's too soon to tell. Eric is good. Jordan is a rookie. Let's wait and see how his 'sophomore' season goes. A lot of players have a great rookie season then go no where after that. I don't think that is going to happen to Jordan but it's still too early to say if he is better than Eric. What is 'scary' is that they say Jared, the youngest is the best of all of them and he has a few years to go before he gets to the NHL. Watch out!

I went to highschool with them both and had the opportunity to see them both play junior for the Petes. They are both amazingly talented players. In terms of who is better, right now I would say Eric, only because he has a few seasons (and a Stanley Cup) under his belt. Jordan is having a breakthrough season with Pittsburgh, and might just be a contender for rookie of the year. I get the feeling that he will only get better the longer he spends in the NHL.

They both are really good, i say that Eric gets a lot more credit, but Jordan is proving himself to be a big threat nowadays.
