in the early founding of Rome the Greeks from Syracuse did sack the city of Rome. but this was before her hight in power. but in her hight of Romes power there is no way Greece could have defeated Romes military but like many have said Rome did love Greek things such as thier writtings but don't think that rome didn't have some great writters of their own

The only way you could say that is that Rome adopted
many things of the Greeks - their religion and their style
of doing things including some aspects of their government.
Rome was known for taking the best ideas and making
them even better. Greece is just one example of their
behavior.

Perhaps on a cultural level. Greek slaves were highly prized because they were educated and cultured. A lot of the Roman gods are "spin offs" of the Greek gods. The Greeks were an enormous influence on Roman culture.

Language, culture, art, architecture . . . etc. The language of the capitol was Latin, but the language of the empire was Greek. For instance, the original Christian gospels were written in Greek, not Latin.
