I learned about phi in 7th grade when watching "Donald Duck in Mathmagical Land." I have found it in many organisms and structures. It is the ratio of the "Golden Rectangle" in Greek architecture. I have my science students take their own body measurements and discover that phi is what makes their bodies proportionate. It is in the symmetry of the petals of many flowers.

I have lived my whole life and have never noticed PHI before. If I used it or took advantage of it in any way, it was an accident.

12 years of school, advanced math and math contests, electrical engineering degree and a minor in math and I still can't recall ever seeing anything about it.

In looking into for this question, I did find some interesting things though. The link below was one of many that have background as well as applications of PHI.

Thanks for the opportunity to look into this. Now, if I can just find a way to use it to make my next 40 years on earth easier because of knowing it!
