I usually fight back -basically become a smart as s with a customer and raise my tone of voice, to let them know, they are being dumb and obnoxious, but I've found out, it is better to serve with a smile and patience, even if they are being biitchy, because that way they don't report you and you make them feel low/inconsiderate-lol.

if you are dealing with an angry person,calmly ask what he or she wants you to do.this usually shocks the person so much,because they think if hes that upset,you will get mad in return. they have come prepared for battle and think they will catch you off guard! if you know how you can resolve the problem,do it. if not ask the manager for his help.
