the chicken evolved from other animals just like we evolved from apes. the egg came first as the chicken evolved from another animal. The animal evolved and needed to be able to fly without the weight of a baby so that is when the egg came but it was before the chicken.

Heads up! Here comes another Mary theory:
Ok...a chicken can't just materialize from thin air. So perhaps as some organism began to evolve and soon became a chicken. Or the chicken formed from a hybrid between two other birds.

The chicken..the chicken came through evolution which eventually laid the egg of a full blown chicken as we know it now....it was a gradual process but the chicken had to lay the perfect chickens egg ..not vice versa.

Tiny creatures lived in the primordial ooze, they were neither chicken nor eggs. They eventually evolved into fish who evolved into land creatures who eventually became dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs eventually became birds, thus creating the chicken. Both birds and dinosaurs lay eggs, so the answer is neither. Teh chicken evolved from dinosaurs.
