According to the Mayan 'Long term' calender, the world will end on the 23rd of december, 2012. {Read up on it a bit - not from a christian site.} Do you beleive it? If so, Why? If not, Why? If you do Beleive it, is it going to make a difference on how you spend the next 5 years? And Last of all, What are you going to do if you beleive it, you wake up on the 24th, and the world is not over. Then what do you think you'll do? Just want to get some peoples opinions.

I think we may be headed for a bumpy ride for the next few years, but I don't think the world will end; unless humans do something crazy, like start a nuclear war. I may move out of California for a few years, maybe try Colorado or Utah, I hear the skiing is the best there.
The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.
According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way, ninety degrees relative to the black hole, at its center. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.
In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity will cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension.
The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.
Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.
Humans have freewill, Man's future is not set yet, nor predictable:

NO, it does NOT say the world will end. However, this cycle of the Mayan calendar does end on that date. Yes, I have read up on it - try some HISTORICAL sources, not new age ones. As bad if not worse than the Christian ones.
The misinterpreted part is that the Mayans feared, that during the 5 days at the end of the cycle - Uayeb - that the gods MIGHT be dissatisfied with humanity and MIGHT end the world. NOT would end the world. Dig the difference??
Do I believe it? No. Will the world - or more specifically, my world be different in 5 years? Yes - but not because of the calendar. I fully expect to wake up Dec. 24th 2012 and I'llbe doing whatever was planned to happen on that day. What wll those plans be? Don't know - that's 5 years from now.

I don't believe the world will end on 23rd Dec 2012, its the end of the Mayan "long count calendar" .. Also you're not wrong with your date at 21st Dec as their have been translations that depict this date.. There are many theories as to what will occur , but I think we are coming into a new age of enlightenment.. Some say we will eventually merge into the 4th dimension, anything's possible when you listen to what the Christians are on about at the moment.. Just running scared I think, their bosses __eg The Pope and all the higher up types know that the time of their false religion is up.. They won't give up without trying to discredit every thing about a "Shift" or the "Awakening " as this erodes their grasp on mainstream Christianity.. It all boils down to mathematics and astronomy and cosmology.. When the Earth reaches 13.0.0.0.0 Baktuns , it will basically re-set back to zero..Hence a new age will begin... 1 baktun = 144,000 days , 13 baktuns = 5,125 yrs.. Don't worry about the end of the world my fellow traveller, feel in awe that you will be a part of something very spiritual, something the Planet right now is in dire need of . Blessed Be

Every generation has believed it is living in the Last Days. Truth is, no one knows. THAT is even Biblical, NO ONE KNOWS. Not Nostradamus, and certainly not the Mayas.
The Mayas stopped their calendar making around that time. That is as far as got chiseling away in stone. Don't read too much into it. They left their homes and moved to parts unknown because of famine, drought, disease, threat of nature, war or whatever.
Remember Nostradamus predicted..."...in 1999 the great king of terror will come from the sky..." What happened in 1999? Nothing significant concerning the End Times.
Live a good life, be happy, help others, be a just person and let the future take care of itself.

First of all, most people take one day at a time, and count their blessings for that- I do anyway. It is important to make the most you can and take time before it takes you so to say.
Secondly, with what I said above in mind why complicate life more when life and death is in God hands. Something all mankind has no control over.
Thirdly, I don't believe it is morally right when anyone mentions the name of any given person to make a negative example.
Finally, The 'end of the world' for anyone would be the last day of their life on Earth- not necessarily, the end of the world of a people. No one knows the day when the world will end.

Maybe the world as we know it today will actually perish. Yet I do not think that means there will be no more humans. Hopefully just a more peaceful atmosphere to live in...Technology will either take everyone over or people will be forced to resort back to nature. We must look out for animals as well as children. It is turning out to be a devistating fact that Global warming is catching up to all of us and you cannot hide from the universal laws of Karma. I still will not believe that it is too late for the world to change. First off, the governments in all countries will have to reach a common ground, as well as all religions. Yet this is so unlikely to actually happen. It is really too sad.

I thought it was 12-21-2012 and it doesn't say end the Myans thought that this would be another major change. I think the text shows smaller changes that co inside with things like the plague and wars so who knows it may be a step forward instead of the end. Do you remember when the world ended 6 years ago.

Nobody knows when the world will end. For all we know, 12/23/12 may well mark a brand new beginning for mankind. Besides, if the world does end on that date, who will return all those Christmas gifts already bought and wrapped for Christmas morning two days later? What a disaster that would be!
