I agree with you.

The BoSox spent a lot of money this offseason. It may take Matsusaka some time to get used to the ways of MLB, but I think he'll do fine. They have the best pitching staff.

The Yankees also have a good staff.

The AL East will be interesting, as always.

First off I'll admit I am a Yankee fan BUT, they definitely do not have the best pitching staff. Their rotation can be successful but they have way too many question marks. Wang is consistent but after him who knows. Mussina will probably be okay but he is a year older, maybe it shows, maybe it doesn't. How does Pettitte do upon returning to the AL? How does Igawa's stuff translate over to AL East? Does Pavano actually pitch for the Yankees in '07 and how good will he be? He only has 4 wins for NY. Maybe the Yankees get Clemens but he may not be as effective after his time in the NL. It seems Hughes would be a highlight reel himself but they'd prefer that he not even pitch in '07. The Yankees have one of the best bullpens this year but I don't know if it is the best. The BoSox could be okay without a closer but it could hurt them at some point. Their rotation has just as many question marks as the Yankees, maybe more. Unfortunately, they can't count on Lester. Papelbon will be their best pitcher but how well will he do in his first full year? Beckett made a terrible transition to the AL and his only career highlight was his complete game against the Yankees in the World Series when he was with the Marlins but his career ERA and wins column are not great at all. Matsuzaka seems awesome, he already showed he could get out major leaguers in the WBC but finding that success after the AL gets more than one look at him and getting used to a 5 man rotation will be tough. Schilling can do well but he isn't getting any younger and isn't a stranger to injury. Wakefield is older and not as good as he was three years ago; he might actually be their best option for a closer. A lot of the NL West teams play in big ballparks and the NL has the weaker, shorter lineups without the DH so it is hard to pick any NL teams as having the best pitching staff even though the stats might be there. I think the Dodgers have a pretty solid starting 5 and the Braves have a pretty good bullpen but overall in the majors the Tigers have the best pitching staff. I wouldn't expect Kenny Rogers to play like he did in the playoffs but he could still hold it together and the rest of that rotation is young and extremely talented. Those young guys will just get better this year and their bullpen although not the best is still impressive especially with Joel Zumaya's arm.

The person above is wrong, the Padres starting pitchers are great but they will have to worry about Maddux. Other then that Peavy and Young should have good seasons but they need to work on their relief pitchers because just having Trevor Hoffman isn't going to work if something happens to him. But here is my top five..

1. Los Angeles Angels (their Bullpen is Monstrous Francisco Rodriguez and then Scot Shields behind him outstanding, if Bartolo Colon stays healthy their rotation should be great. Lackey and Jered Weaver should have great years)

2. Oakland A's ( Great rotation if Harden can stay healthy and Huston Street leading their bullpen what more can you ask for)

3. Los Angeles Dodgers ( rotation is great with Lowe, Billingsley,Penny, and Schmidt averaging 4.00 ERA last year and bullpen is good with closer Takashi Saito)

4. New York Yankees good lineup, but Carl Pavano is a little mysterious other then that they will need to pray for Pettitte, Wang, and Mussina to have a great year. Their bullpen led by Mariano Rivera is excellent )

5.Boston Red Sox ( Their rotation should be great if papelbon can dominate being a starting pitcher and matsuzaka turn out to be as good as he was in the USA. their bullpen is really confusing because they havent set a real closer yet since papelbon became a SP)

i'm a brilliant Yankees fan, so my answer is.......... MINNESOTA!!!!! confident, Minnesota a million. Johan Santana: 19-6, 2.seventy seven era. Has probable the main commanding slider i've got considered via fact the super Unit from back interior the day 2. Francisco Liriano: 12-3, 2.sixteen era. incredible youthful pitcher who, while his shoulder is greater efficient, could be a perrenial 20 sport winner each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. super ninety 8 mph fastball and a bad slider. 3. Boof Bonser: 7-6, 4.22 era. solid youthful pitcher that, with paintings would desire to win 10 or 12 video games a 300 and sixty 5 days for the Twins. began to calm down in direction of end of three hundred and sixty 5 days (finshed 4-2) 4. Carlos Silva: 11-15, 5.ninety 4 era. Definetly desires paintings, yet did have maximum of his wins interior the final 4 months (6-7). DEFINETLY desires greater paintings than any twin pitcher 5. Matt Garza: 3-6, 5.seventy six era. purely pitched in August and September. 4 of his 6 losses have been of three runs or much less, allowed an entire of 7 BB's interior the video games he gained. Is loaded with ability.

The Red Sox? Not even close. Who is their closer? Who is going to bridge the gap between starters and the closer?

The best pitching staffs are:

1. Padres
2. Tigers
3. Angels
4. Dodgers
5. Astros
6. Orioles
7. Yankees
8. White Sox
9. Phillies
10. Twins

To the poster below two post down, with all due respect, you are completely wrong. The Padres bullpen is outstanding. Hoffman is one of the premeir closers in the NL, then they have one of the best set-up men in baseball in Scott Linebrink. In front of those two, you have Cla Meridith, Heath Bell, and Royce Ring .

Worry about Greg Maddux? How so? Maddux is as solid as #3 as there is in baseball. Maybe only a handful of teams have a better #3.

LA DODGERS... they have Jason Schmidt, a top 5 power pitcher, Brad Penny who started the All-Star game last year, and Derek Lowe, who if you took out like 4 or 5 starts he had in the middle of the last year prob would have led the majors in ERA.... good closer in saito and they usually put out a solid bullpen Billingsely nice young pitcher too
