First off, you said that it is here... I hear that a lot from politicians. That it is here and we can't change that. I don't agree! I say FIX IT. I am not anti-free trade but what we have it what I call 'irresponsible globalization.'
That is, like Ross Perot has stated, where you open into trade and free trade with countries without stipulations on them to even enforce their own labor laws.
Now back to your question. Globalization is not only 'not working' for the poor, it is NOT meant to help the poor. Why do you think the Republic party was adamant about not even attempting to fix the illegal problem. They want that cheap labor... they want that oppressed, low-wage non-English speaking person to work for pennies.
Logic dictates that if you have free trade with a country that say for example is making a mattress for $10 and it cost you $200 to make it, then your working class is going to lose jobs. There is no way around it.
We are headed to the days of becoming a 3rd world country.

First of all, I like your question, and I am on your side. But, the fact of the matter is that it was never meant to benefit the poor in any way. It was also never intended to benefit the middle class in any way. Globalization is a goal, that they having been working toward for a really long time, and it is meant to benefit only the Globalists. Which it, of course, does!!!!! The best thing we can do for the poor, of which I am one, is to get rid of the Globalists, and the Federal Reserve system, and the IRS and the questionable income tax, and the Patriot Acts, etc.,...but that is easier said than done!!!!

Nonsense. The poor countries are becoming richer. Who have you been listening to? This matter came up at the trade talks. The poorer nations refused to deal. They want to eliminate agricultural subsidies but won't remove tariffs on other goods they import from developed nations. They are very protective. Globalization is nothing more than change. Are you afraid of Change?

LOL. Globalism was never meant to work for the poor, it is meant to exterminate the middle class so to reduce wealth into as few hands as possible.
Globalism's goal is to allow a few of the upper middle class to move upward into wealth while forcing the majority of the middle class into poverty where the result is to be that the poor becomes totally subservient to the rich. It means nothing less than bringing about global Fascism.

Poor? Have politicians ever cared about the poor? Show me when! It has never happened and will never happened. Give it up!
Poor people do best and are fewest when government stays on its side of the fence and people are free to do first for themselves, and then for others...just like with the oxygen mask on an airplane.

Globalization is profitable indirectly by helping to keep inflation low. I am not in what you call the "upper part" of society and I feel lucky to buy things on the internet much more cheaply than in a local mall. Why on earth do you think that globalization only helps the super wealthy? Keep researching the subject and you will see things differently.

Globalization just makes it easier for multinational corporations to move their operations to those countries with the lowest labour and operating costs. Taking jobs away from us and lowering our standard of living while marginally increasing that of their host country. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Absolutely right. Not only is it not working, it is crushing the poor. The answers:
1. heavily regulate trade to ensure labor and environmental standards are enforced.
2. put capital controls in place so companies cannot immediately appropriate their profits.
3. Strenghten international institutions to regulate the economy, with e.g. a global living wage.
