It sounds to me like you are describing a stretch mark. Stretch marks look somewhat like scars -- whitish and streaky. Stretch marks are the result of overstretching of the skin . . . the collagen and elastic fibers of the skin are stretched to breaking and then the tissue is repaired with scar tissue . . . so a stretch mark really is a scar. It is not the result of surgery. It is the result of injury due to over stretching the skin.

Individuals who become overweight often have these, even after they lose weight. Pregnant women often get them when the skin on their bellies stretch beyond the ability of the skins infrastructure to accommodate it.

Stretch marks are permanent but can be minimized by dermabrasion.

Some people are more prone to stretch marks than others and I suppose you could say that this is genetic, as an individual's collagen/elastin protein production is under the control of the genes.

I would think that a greater number of africans are affected than the caucians due to their skin type...keloids scars do not occur after surgery alone/or a nasty cut. It can just appear if you are acne prune in certain areas of the skin , especially the stomach. It can appear as a small boil, then gradually develop into a ugly. unsightly scar that raises up and can grow for a while, so to me I would think it have alot to do with your genetics.
