Hi. Use a free HD cleaner such as CCleaner, then defragment. If you mean so NOBODY could recover data, your best bet is a military spec data eraser such as "Sure Delete", but even then your REALLY best bet is to install a new drive and bulldoze (destroy) the old one. Kinda harsh but it works.

HI

If you are talking about cleaning has in FORMAT to have a new install , then you can just boot from the xp cd and just take out the primary parition then create a new one and do a regular format. Now if its cleaning as in taking out stuff you have , then you need to have a to clean the temp , folders , the cookies , the registry etc etc etc , so wish one is ??

To FORMAT harddrive ----Do long (not quick) formats, do up to 7 times to really clean it REAL good.

To clean up your files? Delete unused programs and files, then defragment.

A friend of mine who works at a help desk for an ISP told me someone actually put thier dsl modem in the dishwasher to clean it!!! They are out there ....I hope your not one of those. 8-))lmao The best answers are here for you.

what do u mean Clean? reformat?..if not then the best way to maintain ur hdd is by doing checkdisk...double click 'my computer'>right click c:>click 'properties'>select 'tools'>click 'check now'>select both 'check disk options' if u prefer>restart computer..hope this helps

What do you mean by clean? Like physically clean like dust and stuff off it? or like data-wise defragment?

Disk De frag, disk clean-up and go to add/remove software and remove all unneeded software.

You could buy hard drive programs or get a new hard drive. Or if you use a Mac, the installation disc has a hard drive management feature.

1st run defragment tool & disk clean up tool

then format it

that should do it

that's wat i do b4 i reinstall windows
