Try not using a mouse pad. The original purpose for mouse pads were to provide a uniform surface for the track-ball and to allow the ball to move around without sliding. But with optical mice, they work on almost any surface. Mirror and glass are surfaces that won't work.

They make mouse pads for optical mouses that enhances their performance. Myself I use a red mouse pad made for the roller ball mouses with my optical mouse. Some mouses don't even need a mouse pad if you haven't tried that already. It just depends on the surface and how reflective it is.

hi

well the mouse yu are using currently seems to be a old one meant for roller ball based mouse and thats why your ae working hard to move the mouse around......just go ahead and get a new pad (though not required you can use your computer table as a pad) that is plain has no texture or grooves for resistance. it should be as plain as possible

You don't have to use a mouse pad with optical mouse, it can be used on any surface. using a mouse pad will make it harder to use.

I recommend you to get a hold of a wireless mouse.

They don't require a special surface. Go to the link and scroll down.
