Now first of all some inmates are not fit mentally to fight or just b/c of there crimes it b safe to keep them in jail. Im referring to robbers, rapist, murderers, abusers, drug dealers/users, and other crimes of the sort that are not too severe. Now think, if we train and send them to the heart of the fighting, we will do away with the excessive inmate overcrowding and also the amount of funds from tax payers needed to support the system. That means more money to use for national debt or other worthwhile programs that will help improve our own well being. Not only that but it cud also prevent some crimes from happening if fear comes into the persons head that they might get sent to there own deaths for fighting in the war. Also for the inmates they will get a displine they prolly have never had and actually might be well enough to b released back into the public, that is the ones of lesser crimes. such benefits for fighting and comming back cud b reduced sentences for certain crimes.

keep in mind yall, not all criminals r bad people. dont stereotype the group. and yes i think those chargers r severe, but i believe if the ppl r inspected correctly then they can fight. note: i said ppl who r mentally compitent, not all criminals have head issues and can under pressure and strict rules be taught to obey orders.

You are spelling M-E-R-C-E-N-A-R-Y.
Unless the criminals have values and won't sellout to the highest Sunni Arab al Quaida/Shiite Persian bidder.
Enough free citizens of America hate the US. Do you think freed felons, whom we fed and housed, are loyal enough to protect you?
You trust thieving, murderous, raping pedophiles with nothing to lose?
Are you comparing our volunteer military to unscrupulous thugs?
Our guys are the heroes. They don't take. They give.
They give so you can to continue to circulate your carefree, western thoughts like the world is a movie.

Rape, murder, robbing & drug abuser/dealers aren't severe crimes? I beg to differ. No, they shouldn't be allowed to fight in any wars. It would be more trouble than it's worth. Do you honestly think a person who can't be in soceity without committing a felony can be trusted to not go AWOL or give away information to the enemy. Most criminals have no moral code and are only out for #1. They're not interested in disipline or anything of that nature, if they were, they wouldn't have committed crimes. They all could've joined the military prior to taking up a life of crime. They need to stay right where they're at.
Maybe if prison weren't so cushy, they wouldn't be overcrowded. More people are worried about how prisoners are unhappy in prison (hello! It's prison! It's not suppose to be fun!) than how they messed up their victim's lives. God forbid if someone actually has to be held responsible for their actions anymore.

Can you imagine Manson running around Iraq looking for dope? Scott Peterson trying to look down the Iraqi woman's headdress for a neck shot? The fact is our prisons are full of people that couldn't live in OUR free society. These scum are less than men. They are useless, and hopeless.

Convicted drug dealers stationed in Afghanistan could revitalize and boost production of the heroin industry with hard core American ingenuity. The US buys the largest share of Afghan smack. These criminals have contacts. It could jumpstart their careers.

you should go outside, take a walk and focus upon something else for a while.

I don't think it's abad idea. If they are physically and mentally fit and agree, I think it's ok. I remember when the military was given as an alternative to incarceration. I'd like to see their charges dropped and expunged as well.
