I was driving down a long island highway here in ny, and i was just crusing down the road listening to music, not really any cars around me and i didnt realize how fast i going..The cop saw me and pulled me over. I didnt try what so ever to get out of it, i accepted it and understood why i was being pulled over. The only thing that got to me was that i was giving a ticket for failing to change lanes without a blinker which i always do because it even annoys me when people dont do it. I didnt complain that cuz i wanted to be respectful and just figured id talk it out in court..I have a court date for next month and i believe now i have 8 points for the ticket and 2 or 3 for the blinker which equals 11.Which probably means suspended license..I had one other violation about 2 years ago by making a U-TURN on a street i didnt realize i wasnt allowed to..I plan on pleady guilty and being upfront with the judge. Should i get a traffic lawyer to try to reduce the Fine n point ill be recieving

I would get a lawyer. If there is any chance that your license will be suspended, you need legal representation. Don't go into court unprepared and unrepresented. My brother went through this several years ago and has been denied employment at least twice because of his driving record. This will stay with you for 3 years and will cause your insurance rates to skyrocket.

At least one speeding ticket arguing point is: radar gun calibration reports (was the officer's gun calibrated when you were pulled over - if not it calls into question the accuracy of the readings). But make sure you consult a lawyer that specializes in driving offenses.

In the meantime - I suggest that you use cruise control when you're toolin' around on the highway. This will keep you out of trouble in the future.

Best wishes!

My guess is that even if you have reached the max on points, a seperate hearing has to be held to actually suspend your liscense. In other words, I don't think it's automatic, if you can prove your not a habitual problem they will probably just make you go to a more intensive traffic school. First, Try calling the prosecutor's office and offer to plead guilty to an equipment violation for lane change violation. The state will still get it's money but you won't add any points. Most of the time they don't want to waste time in court with you and will probably agree to it. Good luck!

Please--slow down-drive sensibly! 91 in 55? Is it really pssible to get a traffic lawyer? I don't know how that works in NY-laws on that, and points and all. Just see what the attorney's office says.

In Ohio, it takes 12 points before your license is suspended. I know because I've had as many as 10. Anyway, you might wanna double check that. And don't make any more silly blunders until some of those points come off your record!

Well, you have to obey the safety laws all the time. You should get a lawyer if you feel that will help reduce the penalties. Drive more carefully from now on;the life you save may be your very own!

I'm sorry - but there is NO EXCUSE for going that fast - you had to realize you were "cruising" too fast. I'm glad you were caught before you caused an accident with the "not really any cars" around you . Hard lesson to learn but easier than paying the price of causing injury or death.

You made your bed now lie in it. On the day of Judgment and the Lord Jesus judges you based on the ten commandments, will you bring a lawyer to that proceeding too. You will be tried on every word you ever uttered, and every works you ever performed. If your looking to be in leadership yourself one day, you must humble yourself to authority. Take your lumps and move on.

Speeding more than 15mph over the speed limit can be cited (and arrested) as reckless driving.
If you want to get it reduced and keep your license, get an attorney and don't plead to anything.
