If so, why is it said that money can't buy happiness?

While I don't often add details, I urge you to dig deep and answer honestly.

Of course it can. Every time I think about this, I think of this song:

"I hate those people who love to tell you money is the root of all that kills. They have never been poor, they have never had the joy of a welfare Christmas" (Everclear)

I've been in a few different states financially in my life, and while money can't buy permanent and real happiness, it really can help temporarily. With that said, it is also up to us to spend our money wisely when we do have it...

I think that it is a helpful tool, but not necessarily the CAUSE of unhappiness. Money will fix a lot of your problems, but if you are a troubled person before, you'll still be a troubled person with money. Look at most celebrities, people who win lotteries...they may look happy, but most have tons of issues.

hmmm, sure it can be depressing to not have money.... it restricts you sometimes. i've been there... but at the same time, you can be at the peak of your life and still enjoy yourself and have fun without money.

i think money can't buy happiness, b/c most people think true happiness revolves around people and relationships rather than things and money.

i think you might have more people in your life with more money though, so yes i think more money = more happiness

I find that when you are broke it is a miserable thing, you worry about everything, so money can bring security but the most precious things in life have nothing to do with money

Give me all your money and then you tell me if a lack of money causes unhappiness.
