104 will not cause brain damage. That person is misinformed. Along with the one that told you to add ice to the bath. That can send the baby into shock. Alternate tylenol and motrin. If that does not bring it down any then take him/her to the ER. Slowly, DO NOT have a wreck trying to get there... it will be OK. Some people really try to freak new mothers out. Remember most that have an opinion usually do not even have children.

If your child is reasonably alert and taking fluids and has no other symptoms that suggest a serious illness, the doctor may advise you to give him children's acetaminophen or ibuprofen to bring down the fever. If you're able to keep his temperature below 102 degrees F (38.9 degrees C) with the recommended dosage of acetaminophen or ibuprofen, you might want to wait 24 hours before bringing him in. Because fever is often the first symptom of an illness, a doctor may not find anything significant if your child is examined too early.
If I were you I would already be at the ER.

You can actually alternate giving him Motrin and baby Tylenol. Give him Motrin then two hours later the Tylenol. That's what I had to do when my son had the high temp. They overlap keeping the temp down so it doesn't rise so high before the next dose of medicine. Have you called your doctor?

With a fever that high you should take him to the emergency room. RIGHT NOW! Forget the baths. He needs to see a doctor right away. My niece had a fever that high at 10 months old, had a seizure at the ER because they couldn't get it down and now has cerebral palsey. Call your Pedi, let them know you're taking him in and get going!
For the ride over alternate with tylenol and motrin to make him more comfortable.

Call your pediatrician! That is high for an infant... You can also alternate between Motrin and Tylenol to give him the fever-reducer more often (but check with your ped first to be safe)

Just keep him comfortable. It's about all you can do. OOHH yes, Try switching to Tylenol to. My doctor told me it's perfectly okay to use Motrin one time then the next dosage use Tylenol. It will kick the fever quicker.

Yea like taking him to the emergency room right away!
104 is WAY to high and can cause brain damage if left alone. Anything over 101 is WAY to high. Call an ambulance or something.
Seriously... call 911, you have no idea.. you scared the **** out of me reading this.. NO WAY a parent doesn't know that 104 is fatal to a child... let alone a 12 month old.

call the doctor. let him or her advise you of some other steps u can be doing to drop the heat. some doctors may recommend alternating tylenol and asprin and such, not sure if that is safe since hes like a year old. but definately call the doc, see what they can advise u would be helpful. if it doesnt go down or it goes up u may need to go to the hospital. good luck

here is what i would do.. keep him up right if he is wheezing, try to get him to drink lots of h2o pedalite ect. run the humidyfier and maybe dap him with a cool cloth, when he's a wake. chances are the er will just give him motirn and send u home..after you've sat there till morning. atleast thats what our band aid station does, unless he's been running that high for like hours....
